CAMPMEETING  2009
July 10-12
St. Helena Seventh-day Adventist Church

The first night of Napa Valley's 2009 Campmeeting was wonderful, with music and a presentation by Pastor Daniel Freedman from the St. Helena Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Dan preached on Matthew 24, reminding us listeners that we are, indeed, in the "birth pangs" of earth's history. The prophecies foretold byJesus Christ are coming to fruition.  Even now, He is at the door!

After the service, a group met in the front of the sanctuary for earnest prayer, followed by a pasta dinner supplied by the St. Helena Church.

The afternoon was full of music and God's word in teaching.  Oscar Poiret, retired pastor from Montemorelos, Mexico, gave a mini concert on guitar preceeding Sue Urive's dynamic presentation on the importance of small group fellowship.
Joy Fackenthall, wife of new Prep principal Peter Fackenthall, gave a piano concert for the eager congregation, then Pastor Freedman spoke on Righteousness by Faith.

Simultaneously, two groups went into the community bearing loaves of home-baked bread and bottles of water, each bearing verses of scripture reminding that Jesus is our Bread and our Water.  They sang at residential doors, as well as visited for over an hour at Woodbridge Apartments, singing and enjoying the fellowship of the folks who live there.

After a light supper of popcorn and fruit (and some lunch leftovers!),  several elders and pastors gathered for an anointing service, available to anyone wanting the Lord's intervention in this special way.
Pastor Ron Stretter then gave details about
Messiah's Mansion which is being sponsored by the St. Helena, Elmshaven, Calistoga, and Yountville Churches in August.  Following this service, a concert and singing potpourri, led by Dan Oliver and John and Debi Taylor was well-attended.  They, with other musicians Bryan Henry, James Oliver, Aaron Ricci, Charinette Guerrero, and Rebecca Gates, continued to sing and play until after 10:00 PM.

At 9 PM in the Fireside Room, the film
Fireproof" was shown to an audience of about 50.  Sunday morning saw a breakfast potluck and the weekend was capped off nicely when the ABC Bookmobile pulled into the parking lot with campmeeting specials!!
